Get set for Southampton's showdown with Chelsea in the Premier League by checking out our in-depth match preview.

What’s at stake?

Two in-form teams go head-to-head at St Mary’s, with Southampton looking to make it six Premier League games unbeaten, while Chelsea are seeking a fourth consecutive win in the competition.

Saints are yet to be beaten at home this season, and will be desperate to protect the record, having lost narrowly to the Blues, 2-1, when the teams met on the south coast last term.

Chelsea start the weekend in fourth place, but just one point off top spot, and will be hoping they can climb at least a bit further.

Saints start the day in eighth, knowing a win would cut the gap to Chelsea to just three points.

Team news

Ryan Bertrand will be assessed ahead of kick-off to see if he can return from a hamstring injury that has sidelined him the last few weeks. Saints are definitely without Cédric, Matt Targett, Shane Long, Jake Hesketh, Jay Rodriguez and Alex McCarthy.

For Chelsea, defender Branislav Ivanović is fit again, after recovering from a dislocated shoulder. Midfielder Cesc Fàbregas, who scored when the teams met at St Mary’s last season, is definitely out with a thigh injury.
