Dušan Tadić was Southampton’s assist king during the 2015/16 campaign, as he set up 13 goals over the course of the season.

He also wrote his name into the history books, becoming only the fourth player in Premier League history to register three or more assists in a single game on more than one occasion.

The Serbian international, who joined from Dutch side FC Twente in the summer of 2014, assisted eight goals during his first season with the club.

He got off to the perfect start in terms of assists in Saints’ opening home game of his second season with the club, as Tadić provided the cross for Shane Long to head home and earn the away side a point at Newcastle United.

His second of the campaign came in the 2-2 draw at home to Leicester City, as José Fonte headed home his corner, before Graziano Pellè also benefitted from a Tadić cross in the 2-0 home win against AFC Bournemouth.

After a spell out of the side, Tadić returned to form with an assist for Long’s second goal in the excellent 4-0 win against Arsenal on Boxing Day. It was then from Tadić’s touch that Carl Jenkinson put through his own net as Saints lost 2-1 to West Ham United in their final game of the year.

The 27 year-old then provided two assists in two games, as he set up Virgil van Dijk’s equaliser in the 1-1 draw with Sunderland, before teeing up Pellè for his second in the 2-1 win at Stoke City.

Tadić’s creativity set up Sadio Mané for his equaliser in Saints’ draw at Everton, before the winger grabbed a hat-trick of assists against Manchester City.

Long and Mané were the beneficiaries of Tadić’s creativity in the 4-2 win, as the former Groningen man set up Saints’ first, second and fourth goals in the excellent victory.

Tadić’s hat-trick of assists, coupled with the same feat in the 8-0 win against Sunderland last season, meant he joined Thierry Henry, Cesc Fabregas and Eyal Berkovic in creating three goals in a single Premier League game on more than one occasion.

He would make it five assists in two games, setting up both goals for Steven Davis in the 2-1 win at Tottenham Hotspur, to end the season with 13 assists.

It’s the fourth time in his career in which Tadić has achieved double figures for assists, with his best coming at Groningen during the 2010/11 season (18).

In his two seasons before moving to Saints, Tadić provided 15 assists in 2012/13 and 14 in 2013/14, showing exactly why Ronald Koeman made the decision to bring him to St Mary’s.
