Southampton’s James Ward-Prowse was on the scoresheet as England Under-21s beat Guinea 7-1 at the Toulon Tournament.
The Saints midfielder played 45 minutes for Gareth Southgate’s side, while Matt Targett and Jack Stephens both started in a convincing win for the Young Lions.
After an early setback, a goal from Aston Villa’s Jack Grealish, a penalty from Ward-Prowse and a stunning strike from Nathan Redmond put England 3-1 ahead.
Grealish added a second just before half time, before an own-goal from a Guinea defender made it five just after the break.
A further two goals from Cauley Woodrow completed the rout for Southgate’s side, who have now picked up maximum points from their opening two games of the tournament.
The Saints trio will hope to feature again when the Young Lions face Paraguay on Wednesday 25th May.
