Southampton will enter next season’s UEFA Europa League at the group stages for the first time in the club’s history.
Following Manchester United’s win against Crystal Palace in the Emirates FA Cup final at Wembley on Saturday, Ronald Koeman’s men were confirmed as group stage entrants for next season’s competition.
A sixth-placed finish in the Barclays Premier League for Saints was enough to seal their place in the group stages alongside Manchester United, who finished fifth and won the FA Cup. West Ham United will enter the competition at the third qualifying round stage.
After last season’s disappointment of missing out on the group stages following a defeat to FC Midtjylland, Saints will now be guaranteed at least six matches in next season’s competition as they look to make amends.
The draw for the group stages of the 2016/17 UEFA Europa League will take place in Monaco on Friday 26th August.
