Bertrand: We're not just settling for the top ten

Ryan Bertrand believes Southampton are now a club aiming consistently for European football.

Saints earned a spot in the Europa League after a terrific campaign in 2014/15 and are once again fighting for qualification as the end of the current season approaches.

Ronald Koeman's side have just three games left in which to try to secure another berth in Europe, beginning with tomorrow's home game against Manchester City.

Bertrand retains faith they can achieve that, and explained that a regular place in continental competition is where the club are now aiming.

"It's been another positive season so far," he told Southampton's official YouTube channel. "There's still a lot of football to be played and we'll try and increase on our position and finish as strong as we can."

On the bid for Europe, Bertrand added: "That's the aim and that's where we are as a club, as a whole. We're not settling for just top-ten finishes, we're pushing for consistent European football and hopefully we can manage that.

"As long as it's possible, we're just going to go out and try to make it happen. It's important that we go out there and realise what we're playing for and get as many points as we can."
