Tadić: We've improved since last City clash

Dušan Tadić believes Southampton are a better side now than when they visited Manchester City earlier in the season.

Saints will host Manuel Pellegrini’s side this Sunday, as they look to avenge the 3-1 defeat they suffered at Etihad Stadium in November.

Ronald Koeman’s side go into the match having lost only one of their last seven – a narrow defeat at leaders Leicester City – and Tadić says confidence is high ahead of this weekend’s contest.

Reflecting on the meeting earlier this season, he said: “They played much better first half, but we should maybe get some points in the second half, but we are better now than in that moment.”

Tadić continued: “I think it is most important how we are playing as a team. It’s important that we keep winning and hopefully we will get the points against Manchester City.”

With City visiting in the midst of their Champions League semi-final tie with Real Madrid – they drew 0-0 in the first leg at Etihad Stadium on Tuesday – Tadić says Saints could be getting their opponents at the right time, but he is also aware of the depth they have at their disposal.

“They are really dangerous, like always,” he said. “They are one of the best teams in the league but we still believe in our qualities and we will see what happens.

“It is an advantage that they have a game against Real Madrid. They expect to win, but we also expect to win.

“They have so many good players that they can swap and focus on both things but for sure the game against Real Madrid is important for them.”
