Bertrand: Leicester were worthy winners

Ryan Bertrand had no complaints about Southampton’s defeat at Leicester City, saying the hosts were worthy winners.

Saints fell to a narrow 1-0 defeat at the Barclays Premier League leaders, with Wes Morgan’s 38th-minute goal separating the sides at King Power Stadium.

"They fully deserved the win,” said Bertrand. “I think we controlled it for long periods in the second half, but in the end they finished the half stronger as well, so they deserved it.

"To be honest, it's a disappointing day, we expected a lot more from us.

"We spoke about a few things. Perhaps we need to adjust mentally to make that next step. I think if you look at their team, they're week-in, week-out 100 per cent, back to front, every man, and that's showing and they're getting the wins.

"As a whole, I feel we've got more quality in our team, but it comes down to the mentality. It doesn't just come down to this, that or the other. There's so many more dynamics in football that you need, and they're showing every one.

"We have to analyse what went wrong, analyse the differences and get back together as a team and make sure we get a win next week [against Newcastle].”
