McCarthy's Wycombe stay extended

By SFC Media time Mon 04 Jan Club

Southampton youngster Jason McCarthy has extended his loan spell with Wycombe Wanderers until 3rd February.

The defender initially joined the Chairboys in October and has helped Gareth Ainsworth’s side rise into the play-off places in Sky Bet League 2.

As well as impressing defensively, McCarthy has found the net against AFC Wimbledon and Oxford United.

He also showed his versatility and commitment to the Wycombe cause by taking on goalkeeper responsibilities against Morecambe on Saturday after Matt Ingram had been sent off.

McCarthy has made 15 appearances in all competitions to date and will be hoping to feature in Wycombe’s big Emirates FA Cup clash against Aston Villa on Saturday.

The 20 year-old could be a part of up to six matches in all competitions for the Chairboys over the next month.
