Neil: We'll have to match Southampton's strength

Norwich City manager Alex Neil says his side will have to match Saints for strength if they are to take something from tomorrow’s game.

The Canaries are on a good run of form, having gone unbeaten in their last four matches at Carrow Road, while they also secured a memorable 2-1 win away to Manchester United recently.

But Neil is expecting Ronald Koeman’s side to provide a stern test of their record.

“I think they’re very sort of direct,” he said. “I think they’ve had to change their game up a little bit, which is posing them some problems at the moment – the fact that [Graziano] Pellè’s not available.

“They’ve got Shane Long, who’s a completely different style of player, but the one thing they are is a powerful team. They’ve got big, strong, quick players and we’re going to have to make sure we more than match that if we’re going to get something out of the game.”

Neil added: “They started the season really well and obviously in recent weeks they’ve found it a bit more difficult, but you’ve seen the result they got against Arsenal. It showed you their capabilities.

“We want to try and make sure we play as well as we can and hopefully they don’t play as well as they can, and it should make for another interesting game.

“We’ve been in good form at home recently. Two wins and two draws, which is good, so we’ll take a bit of confidence from that and hopefully go and put another good performance in.”

Neil added that full-back Andre Wisdom should be fit again after a hamstring injury, although the game is likely to come too soon for midfielder Matt Jarvis, who has been out since the end of October.
