Ronald Koeman is yet to make a decision on who will start in goal against Arsenal on Boxing Day, with Maarten Stekelenburg set to be fit for the game.
The Dutch international has missed the last two matches due to a toe injury, and Paulo Gazzaniga has stepped into his shoes well during that period.
Koeman revealed that Stekelenburg returned to full training this week and should be part of the squad for Friday’s game against the Gunners.
"Maarten Stekelenburg is back, he's doing sessions from last Monday, and normally he will be available for the weekend,” he told youtube.com/southamptonfc.
Koeman added that he will consult with goalkeeping coach Dave Watson later in the week before confirming whether Stekelenburg or Gazzaniga will start against the Gunners.
“First I like to wait about the sessions of the whole week,” he said. “We have still the Thursday session and the Friday session and then we make our mind up.
“I will have a discussion with Dave Watson about the goalkeeping and then we will decide who will start.”
Koeman also said that there are no new injury worries following Saturday’s 2-0 defeat against Tottenham.
