Southampton Football Club will be supporting the work of Official International Charity Partner Mary’s Meals through a range of initiatives at Saturday’s home game against Aston Villa.
Mary’s Meals carries out vital work in some of the most deprived countries in the world, with the vision of providing a daily meal to every child in their place of education.
The partnership between the club and the charity is being officially launched tonight in a ceremony at the club’s Staplewood Campus, beginning a season-long fundraising drive in collaboration with the Saints Foundation, who themselves support a variety of good causes and valuable projects in Southampton and the surrounding areas.
The following proceeds from this weekend’s game will be split evenly between Mary’s Meals and the Foundation’s local projects:
- All ticket booking fees
- 50p from the sale of each matchday magazine
- 15p from the sale of each hot food item at the concourse concessions
- 10 per cent of gross profits from the Stadium Megastore sales
- All proceeds from the sale of ‘Classic Seasons’ scratch cards
- All proceeds from the matchday executive lottery
Additionally, all money raised for Mary’s Meals between now and 28th December will be matched by the UK government.
Chairman Ralph Krueger said: “We are delighted to be supporting the incredible work of Mary’s Meals, as well as the Saints Foundation, both of which make such a valuable, and at times life-changing, contribution to so many people.
“Saturday’s game against Aston Villa gives us and our supporters a fantastic opportunity to raise funds for both of these wonderful organisations.”
