This special two-for-one offer takes readers back to the two-legged semi-final from the 1986/87 season – the last time Southampton made it to the last four of the competition.

Saints and Liverpool have met many times in cup competitions over the years and, as well as that semi-final tie, we’ve also revisited the ties from 1960 and 1999.

The latter of those classic encounters was made famous by Saints’ Norwegian midfielder Trond Soltvedt scoring a late winner at the Dell in a 2-1 Worthington Cup success.

We tracked Soltvedt down for his recollection of events that night, as well as his penchant for scoring goals against Liverpool during his time at Southampton.

Our main feature interview sees one of Saints’ goal scoring heroes from the last round of this year’s competition take centre stage as Maya Yoshida opens up on his ambitions with the team for this season.

Elsewhere, we look back at a special night 12 years ago to the day from when Saints defeated Portsmouth in a League Cup encounter where James Beattie secured his place in Southampton folklore with two goals for the hosts.
