Jason McCarthy played 90 minutes for Wycombe Wanderers as they drew 2-2 with Portsmouth.

McCarthy lined up at right-back for Gareth Ainsworth’s side, who took the lead when QPR loanee Michael Harriman scored from 40 yards.

Garry Thompson then doubled the home side’s lead with a smart finish on the 30-minute mark, but Caolan Lavery’s goal just before half time handed Pompey a lifeline.

They found an equaliser in the 56th minute as Adam Webster headed home from a corner. The point leaves Wycombe ninth in League 2.

In League 1, defender Jordan Turnbull helped Swindon Town make it back-to-back victories thanks to an excellent 4-0 win away at Chesterfield.

Turnbull played his part in ensuring Martin Ling’s side moved up to 17th in the table with the convincing victory against Chesterfield.

Nicky Ajose opened the scoring in just the third minute before Louis Thompson and Jon Obika found the net to put the Robins in full control.

A second for Ajose with ten minutes remaining sealed the win for Ling’s side, who welcome Rochdale on Saturday looking to make it three wins in a row.

Elsewhere in League 1, Lloyd Isgrove played 71 minutes for Barnsley as they drew 1-1 with Sheffield United.

Up against Nigel Adkins’s men – the man who handed Isgrove his debut at Saints – the winger almost opened the scoring, but was unable to turn home from close range after George Long had spilled a shot.

The visitors took the lead just after the 15-minute mark as Chris Basham rose highest in the penalty area to head home Robert Harris’s cross.

Conor Hourihane was then denied from the penalty spot by Long as Barnsley searched for an equaliser, but the midfielder atoned for his earlier miss in stoppage time by firing home from range to earn Isgrove and his teammates a point.

Sam Gallagher came on as a late substitute for MK Dons as they drew 0-0 with Wolves in the Championship.

The striker was introduced in place of Nicky Maynard with four minutes remaining, but was unable to find a late winner for Karl Robinson’s side – who moved up to 19th with the point.

Jack Stephens was an unused substitute for Middlesbrough as they moved up to second in the Championship with a 2-0 win away at Huddersfield.

Adam Clayton opened the scoring with nine minutes gone before Emilio Nsue cut inside and made the points safe for Aitor Karanka’s men with six minutes remaining.
