Ronald Koeman admits that seeing a much-changed side beat Aston Villa in the Capital One Cup has given him something to think about ahead of picking his side to face AFC Bournemouth.
The Saints boss made seven changes to his starting XI in midweek and watched as his side won 2-1 to set up a quarter-final tie with Liverpool.
Cédric and Ryan Bertrand will return to the squad after being rested, but may find their places occupied by Maya Yoshida and Matt Targett – who both performed admirably on Wednesday.
Sadio Mané is available again after a one-game suspension, though fellow forwards Shane Long and Jay Rodriguez remain out injured.
“What we saw [on Wednesday] was that we have a lot of competition in our squad, which you like to have as a manager,” said Koeman.
“The best XI will start on Sunday. Tomorrow we have our last training session and then you make the final decision for Sunday.”
