Southampton youngster Sam Gallagher has joined Championship side MK Dons on a season-long loan deal.
The 19 year-old, who joined Saints from Plymouth Argyle in 2012, links up with Karl Robinson’s side ahead of their campaign getting under way on Saturday 8th August against Rotherham United.
The forward made his presence known at St Mary’s during the second half of the 2013/14 season, making 20 appearances in total, scoring against Yeovil Town in the FA Cup and Norwich City in the Premier League.
After picking up a long-term injury towards the end of pre-season ahead of the 2014/15 campaign, Gallagher returned in February and played a big part in helping Martin Hunter’s Under-21 side win the Under-21 Premier League Cup.
He made 16 appearances for the Under-21s in total last season, scoring a stunning winner in their cup success against Blackburn Rovers at St Mary’s in April. His form saw him return to the first-team picture when he was named on the bench for Ronald Koeman's side against Leicester City in May.
Gallagher featured against RB Leipzig and Valencia CF this pre-season, but now makes the move to MK Dons as he looks to make his mark in the Championship.
