Southampton’s Under-21 Premier League Cup winning squad were presented with personalised Garmin vívofit activity trackers at the Staplewood Campus last week.
Skipper Jason McCarthy, matchwinner Sam Gallagher and Under-21s coach Martin Hunter were all on hand to be presented with their trackers from Garmin, the club’s Official Fitness Device Partner.
Chrissy Winchcombe, Marketing Executive at Garmin, said: “Garmin are delighted to be working with Southampton Football Club as the Official Device Partner.
“When the Under-21s squad won the cup, we wanted to say congratulations by personalising a red Garmin vívofit activity tracker for everyone involved in their success. It was a great result and we hope our support can help drive them on to more success this season.”
Saints lifted the Under-21 Premier League Cup thanks to a 2-1 extra-time win against Blackburn Rovers at St Mary’s in front of over 12,000 supporters last April.
Gallagher’s winning goal in extra time earned Hunter’s side the trophy after they had beaten Ipswich Town, Norwich City, Watford and Derby County to reach the final.
Hunter’s side kicked off their pre-season schedule with a 0-0 draw against AFC Bournemouth last week before they headed to St George’s Park on Sunday for a week-long training camp.
Saints’ youngsters will take on the Nike Academy on Monday before rounding off their trip on Friday with a game against Derby County’s Under-21s.
