Mayuka returns in Zambia friendly win

Emmanuel Mayuka made his first appearance in more than four months as he came off the bench in Zambia’s friendly victory over Ethiopia.

The forward suffered a groin injury while playing for the Chipolopolo at the 2015 Africa Cup of Nations finals back in January.

The problem ruled Mayuka out of the remainder of Saints’ season, but he was ruled fit enough to link up with his country ahead of today’s friendly in Addis Ababa.

The 24 year-old replaced Lubambo Musonda after 62 minutes, by which point Zambia were ahead thanks to Allan Mukuka’s goal.

The hosts had the chance to level 15 minutes from time, but Binyam Assefa missed his penalty.

Next up for Mayuka and Zambia is a 2017 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier against Guinea-Bissau in Ndola next Saturday.
