Seager in contention for inaugural award

Southampton’s Ryan Seager has been nominated for the Barclays Under-21 Premier League Player of the Year award.

The 19 year-old, who has scored 16 league goals in 21 outing this season, is one of six youngsters who are in contention for the inaugural award.

Chelsea’s Dominic Solanke, Sunderland’s Duncan Watmore and Fulham’s Ange-Freddy Plumain have also been shortlisted along with Arsenal’s Dan Crowley and Harry Wilson of Liverpool.

Yeovil-born forward Seager picked up the league’s Player of the Month award for February and played a big part in helping Martin Hunter’s side to lift the Under-21 Premier League Cup and achieve an eighth-place finish in the league.

The winner will be chosen by the Premier League Club Support Managers and will be announced on Friday 29th May.
