Away supporters
Southampton fans will be housed in the upper tier of the North Stand, which is quite a hike from ground level. Visiting fans are just underneath the overhanging roof at that end of the stadium, so in certain places it can be difficult to see anything other than the pitch.
Getting there by car
Take the A1 up to Junction 62 and turn off at the Durham/Sunderland exit. Then take the A690 towards Sunderland and continue on that road for about eight miles before taking a left turn onto the A19. Take another left turn onto a slip road marked Stadium of Light and then turn right on the A1231. After that, go straight over four roundabouts and through two sets of traffic lights and the stadium car park will become visible on your right about a mile after the second set of traffic lights.
Car parking
Car parking at the stadium is limited, and there are ‘residents only’ parking schemes in operation around the ground. It might be best to park at the Stadium of Light Metro station, which will cost you £4, or to park in the centre of town and make the 15-minute walk in.
Getting there by train
If you’re travelling to Sunderland train station, bear in mind that it’s quarter of an hour’s walk to the stadium. Please be aware of issues on the Metro on Saturday and bear it in mind when planning your journey to the stadium.
Food and drink
There is a concourse area for away fans that serves a number of snacks, including fish and chips (£5.50), a selection of pies (£3 each), pizza pods (£3), Cornish pasties (£2.50) and jumbo sausage rolls (£2.50). These areas can get quite busy, so Saints fans are advised to make their purchases as early as possible if they fancy a drink and a bite to eat before the game or at half time. There are a couple of nearby pubs, notably the Colliery Tavern and The Albion, where visiting supporters can go before the game.
Tickets
Saints fans making the trip to Sunderland without a ticket can purchase on the day from the Black Cat House at the Stadium of Light. Adults can also pay cash only at Turnstile 71.
Tickets are priced at £27 for Adults, £19 for Over-65s and £10 for Under-16s.
