Southampton duo and Maya Yoshida and Shane Long spoke to the media following the 1-0 defeat to West Bromwich Albion at the Hawthorns on Saturday.
Here's what the duo had to say:
Maya Yoshida on a tough afternoon at the Hawthorns…
“We couldn’t create any chances. We didn’t give them any chances as well – just the once, in the beginning of the game. I think I could have headed much better and we should organise more quickly to do better.
“We couldn’t score, but it’s not only an offensive problem because I think, in my opinion, good offence starts from a good defence. I think we need something small – small things make a big difference.
“Since I came back from the Asian Cup we have played well, but we couldn’t get any points so we are very frustrated. There’s a game coming on Tuesday very quickly, so we must recover as much as possible.
“We must freshen our minds and go to the next game to get three points. This is the way we change something.”
Shane Long on the defeat back at his former club…
“It was a tough game once they got in front. It was tough to break them down and they played well to keep us out. We’ve got a few threats on the pitch and we just couldn’t get through.
“We had a few opportunities, who knows, if we’d taken them we might have kicked on and won the game but it just wasn’t to be. We were disappointed after the game because we knew it was a good chance to start winning again and go into Palace on the back of three points.
“The gaffer had a game plan, when we went one goal down it wasn’t really working for us to get through so he decided to change it up and I thought it did make a difference.
“We got at them a bit more, created more spaces but to be fair to West Brom they held out well. We’re disappointed because it’s a game we knew we needed to win to keep things going and keep us as far up the table as we could.
“We still believe in ourselves, we train as hard as we’ve always trained and we have a good squad. The bench was as strong as it has ever been, I think competition for places is always good, we just need that goal and bit of luck.”
