It was a disappointing week for many of Southampton’s seven players out on loan.
Jack Stephens was sent off as Swindon Town drew 0-0 away at Crewe Alexandra on Saturday afternoon.
Stephens picked up a second yellow card for kicking the ball away in frustration late on as the visitors failed to find a way through. Jordan Turnbull also played, and had a goal disallowed in the goalless draw.
There was a positive result last Tuesday however, as Massimo Luongo scored twice to earn the Robins a 2-1 win against Bradford City, ending a run of three straight defeats.
Artur Boruc and Bournemouth endured a difficult week, losing 2-1 at Nottingham Forest in midweek, before failing to break down Blackburn Rovers at home on Saturday in a 0-0 draw.
Also in the Championship, Jos Hooiveld and Millwall’s survival chances suffered another blow, as they lost both of their games.
The Lions were beaten 3-1 at home by Sheffield Wednesday last Tuesday, before suffering a late defeat to Rotherham United on Saturday, leaving them six points adrift of safety.
In the Premier League, Gaston Ramírez played the full 90 minutes as Hull City lost 1-0 to Stoke City, with former Saints striker Peter Crouch scoring the only goal.
There was however better news for Dani Osvaldo, who enjoyed a winning debut for Boca Juniors last Thursday. The striker scored the winning goal as his temporary club beat Wanderers 2-1.
He then came off the bench on Sunday night as they continued their winning run with victory against Atletico Rafaela to move top of the table.
Goalkeeper Will Britt was not involved for Maidenhead United in their 2-0 loss to Whitehawk.
