Saints Foundation is set to venture on a third trip to Lesotho in September 2016.
The ten-day trip will see Saints Foundation support the Kick4Life football and education programme in the landlocked country of Lesotho.
While a beautiful country with a rich culture; Lesotho has the third highest HIV prevalence in the world (23.6%) and more than 100,000 children have been orphaned by the disease.
Kick4Life use sport to deliver health education, HIV testing and life-skills development for vulnerable young people. The scheme is committed to helping the Lesotho community build a brighter future for themselves and their country.
The charity is looking for 20 supporters to join the Foundation on this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity. While in Lesotho participants will have the chance to:
• Deliver health education activities to children in local schools, supported by trained coaches.
• Attend an adventure trip to the mountain region, along with visits to community projects and cultural sites.
• Playing football (in Saints kit!) or watching in stunning locations surrounded by hundreds of local supporters.
Meg Thorne, who attended the tour in 2014, commented: “This is an inspirational trip that brought together a group of people that I now call my friends. Providing HIV/AIDS education to the young children of Lesotho was an incredible life experience.
“The beautiful smiles and happiness of each and every child is something that will never leave my memory. Make a difference and have the time of your life in Lesotho!”
Steve Fleming, a lifelong Saints fan and co-founder of Kick4Life, says: "Playing in Saints kit in front of hundreds of supporters is an incredible experience, and along with delivering health education, a wide range of fun activities and learning about a new country and culture, the tour offers something for everyone."
The Saints Foundation will be staging an information evening in the Markus Liebherr Lounge at St Mary’s Stadium on Wednesday 25th March at 6.30pm, where any interested parties can find out further details about the work of the Saints Foundation, Kick4Life and the 2016 Lesotho tour.
Attendees will hear first-hand about the experiences of previous participants, along with representatives of both Kick4Life and the Saints Foundation.
