Veho competition winners meet Saints quartet

Saints stars Graziano Pellè, Florin Gardos and Eljero Elia plus coach Sammy Lee were all in attendance as Veho treated lucky supporters to an exclusive event this evening.

Main sponsors Veho, a Southampton-based global electronics firm, opened up a competition to Saints fans last year. Any supporter that purchased a Veho product from its Platinum Collection was eligible to enter a prize draw to win a spot at tonight’s exclusive experience.

40 lucky competition winners were selected at random and were invited, along with their plus-ones, to the event in the President’s Suite at St Mary’s.

Recent recruit Elia, top goalscorer Pellè and defender Gardos joined Lee at the event, which was the first held by Veho.

The quartet took part in a question and answer session with Pellè talking about the importance of vocal fans at St Mary’s, telling supporters at the event how much it can drive the players on.

Elia, in his first public appearance for the club, told of how he looked up to Brazilian striker Ronaldo as a youngster and spoke about his pride at playing in the Premier League.

Meanwhile, Gardos said his favourite game of the season was his full debut in the Capital One Cup against Arsenal and spoke about how captain José Fonte has helped him settle in the squad.

Lee was able to reminisce about his days as a player and revealed what life is like as a coach at Southampton, and what it’s like working with Ronald Koeman.

Following the Q&A session, the winners were treated to a tour of St Mary’s and made the most of the opportunity to get photos and autographs.

And they didn’t go away empty handed either – ex-Saint Franny Benali was in attendance to give out special Veho goodie bags, and one guest was drawn at random to win the money-can’t-buy third yellow Saints kit worn by the team in their win over Newcastle United.

Veho Director Ben Vallance said: “At Veho we’re all Saints fans and our partnership with the club provides us with opportunities and access to the players and first-team staff.

“We thought this was a great opportunity to share that access with some of the fans, and to thank them for purchasing Saints Veho products, too. The event went really well and offered an interesting insight into the first team’s environment.

“Hopefully we’ll have further opportunities to bring the fans, Veho and the club together with some more exciting and exclusive events in the future.”
