It was a tough weekend for Saints’ out-on-loan players, with just Artur Boruc at Bournemouth involved in a win.
Young duo Jack Stephens and Jordan Turnbull, both on loan at Swindon Town, were beaten at the weekend, losing 2-1 to MK Dons away from home, but both featured in the Robins’ 3-0 away win against Chesterfield last Tuesday.
Boruc was back fit and available for Bournemouth as they beat Brighton & Hove Albion 3-2 to move up to second in the Championship table, while fellow goalkeeper Will Britt started in goal for Maidenhead United as they drew 1-1 with Wealdstone in their Conference South clash.
Saints’ remaining out-on-loan quartet of Gaston Ramírez, Jos Hooiveld, Jake Sinclair and Dani Osvaldo didn’t feature for their temporary clubs over the last week.
With Saints taking on Hull City at the weekend, Ramírez was unable to feature against his parent club, as Ronald Koeman’s side won 1-0 at the KC Stadium.
Hooiveld was not involved for Norwich City, as they returned to winning ways with a 2-1 victory against Bolton at Carrow Road. Cameron Jerome scored both goals for the Canaries as they moved to sixth in the Championship.
Sinclair was an unused substitute for Scottish side Hibernian, as they lost 7-6 on penalties to Dundee United in a Scottish League Cup quarter-final tie following a 3-3 draw after extra-time.
Finally, Osvaldo was still missing for Inter Milan's two most recent fixtures through injury. Inter beat Sampdoria 1-0 in midweek, before losing 2-0 to Parma at the weekend.
