Saints Foundation Returns To Lesotho

By SFC Media time Thu 13 Jun Club

The Saints Foundation will be returning to the Kingdom of Lesotho in November 2014 and the Charity is inviting Saints fans to sign up for the lifetime experience!

The 10-day trip will see the Saints Foundation support the Kick4Life football and education programme that uses sport to deliver health education, HIV testing, life-skills development for vulnerable young people.

Lesotho – a landlocked country and enclave, completely surrounded by its only neighbouring country South Africa – has the third-highest HIV prevalence in the world (23.6%) and more than 100,000 children have been orphaned by the disease.

It is also a beautiful country with a rich culture, and Kick4Life is committed to helping the Lesotho community build a brighter future for themselves and their country.

This will be the 2nd trip to Lesotho for the Foundation having visited the Country with a group of Saints fans in February 2013.

The inaugural trip was a great success, and to view a short VT of their experiences can be watched below:

The Charity is looking for 20 supporters to join the Foundation on a tour of a lifetime. In summary, the tour includes the following:

- Delivering health education activities to children in local schools, supported by trained coaches.

- An adventure trip to the mountain region, and visits to orphanages, community projects and cultural sites.

- Playing football (in Saints kit!) or watching in stunning locations surrounded by hundreds of local supporters.

Rich Still was one of the Saints fans who took part in our recent tour and commented: "The Saints Foundation and Kick4life tour to Lesotho, South Africa is something I will never forget for the rest of my life. I hope I can experience this journey once more when the Foundation travels again in November 2014."

Steve Fleming, Co-Founder of Kick4Life and a lifelong Saints fan, shared his thoughts on the partnership: "Kick4Life is delighted to be working with Saints once again as they have such a progressive approach to local and international development, and the tour is a powerful demonstration of how football supporters can be engaged in high-impact charity work.

"On a personal level, as a Saints fan, it was also a great honour to play in the Saints kit over in Africa!"

The Saints Foundation will be staging an information event at St Mary’s Stadium on Tuesday 16th July 2013 at 6.30pm, where any interested parties can find out further details on this fantastic opportunity.
