Gastón Ramírez's international summer gets underway tonight, when Uruguay host France in a friendly ahead of the 2013 FIFA Confederations Cup.

Ramírez is in the 23-man party for Uruguay's upcoming fixtures, which also includes a 2014 FIFA World Cup qualifier against Venezuela next week.

La Celeste take on France at the Estadio Centenario in Montevideo from 8pm BST this evening as they prepare for next Wednesday's vital qualifier.

Ramírez and his teammates currently sit sixth in the CONMEBOL qualification standings with five games left to play.

The top four teams in the group will qualify for the 2014 FIFA World Cup finals, while the side in fifth faces a play-off against the nation that comes fifth in the Asian region.

After that game, Uruguay will quickly turn their attentions to the 2013 FIFA Confederations Cup, where they face Spain, Nigeria and Tahiti in the group stage.

If they progress from Group B, Ramírez could potentially come face-to-face with his Saints teammate Maya Yoshida, whose Japan side are taking part in Group A.

Uruguay's upcoming fixture schedule is as follows:

Wednesday 5th June, 8pm BST kick off

Uruguay vs France (friendly) – Estadio Centenario, Montevideo

Wednesday 14th June, 1am BST kick off

Venezuela vs Uruguay (2014 FIFA World Cup qualifier) – Estadio Polideportivo Cachamay, Ciudad Guayana

Sunday 16th June, 11pm BST kick off

If Uruguay progress from the group stage, they will play a semi-final on either Wednesday 26th or Thursday 27th June before a final or third-placed play-off on Sunday 30th June.

Meanwhile, Nathaniel Clyne will hope to be involved for England Under-21s at they kick off their 2013 European U21 Championships campaign against Italy tonight.

The Young Lions take on the Azzuri at the Bloomfield Stadium in Tel Aviv, Israel for a 7.30pm BST kick off. The game is live on Sky Sports 2.

Last night Artur Boruc played for Poland against Liechtenstein as a 34th-minute substitute for Jerzy Dudek, who was playing the final game of his career.

Boruc kept a clean sheet as Poland ran out 2-0 winners in preparation for Friday's 2014 FIFA World Cup qualifier against Moldova in Chisinau.
