Spurs U18s 2-2 Saints U18s

The youngsters remain unbeaten after securing a point in a tricky away fixture at Tottenham.

Saints started the game in emphatic style and took the lead after ten minutes from a rare direct move where Chris Johns’ long clearance down field was seized upon by Ryan SEAGER who sprung through past the goalkeeper to finish for an early lead.

Jason Dodd’s side had numerous chances to add to their advantage and struck a second on 33minutes when some neat inter-play involving full back Tom Leggett, Seager and Jake Flannigan resulted with the latter finding the back of the net with a shot which crashed in off the crossbar.

The second period saw a reverse in fortunes as hosts Spurs struck in the 60th and 67th minutes by converting a couple of crosses which left the visitors up against it for the final 20 minutes or so.

Saints showed a strong resolve though to ensure they took a point back to the south coast.

“Credit to the boys for the way they dug in,” Dodd explained post match.

“We started the game very well and had chances to score more, but they came back at us in the second half so it’s good that we keep picking up points.

“The goals against were poorly defended, but we remain unbeaten going into a tough game away at Stoke next weekend.

“We had Fraser (Colmer) come back in which we’re delighted about, and we continue to challenge ourselves to do better.”

Saints U18s: Johns, Leggett, Colmer (Wood 74), McCarthy, Turnbull (Mugabi 46), Gape, Higgins, Flannigan, Reed, Rowe (Hesketh 65), Seager.
