Saints are delighted to announce that midfielder Jack Cork has been selected in the final Team GB squad for the London 2012 Olympic Games.
Head Coach Stuart Pearce has chosen the former England Under-21 international as one of 18 players who will represent Great Britain in the football tournament, which takes place through late July and early August.
The news comes after Cork became the only player to feature in every single one of Saints' 46 Championship fixtures as they won promotion to the top flight last season.
Jack has been selected for England's Under 21 side by Pearce 13 times, making his final appearance in a 2-0 win over Norway in a match played at St Mary's just over a year ago.
The 23-year-old went on to join Saints from Chelsea little over a month later, having spent a loan spell at the Club earlier in his career.
Cork will link up with the rest of Pearce's squad this Saturday, meaning he will miss Saints' first pre-season dates such as the Markus Liebherr Memorial Cup and training camp in the French resort of Évian-les-Bains.
Team GB play a warm-up friendly against Brazil at Middlesbrough's Riverside Stadium on Friday 20th July (19:45 kick-off) before beginning their Olympic campaign six days later.
Pearce's squad have been drawn in Group A of the 16-team tournament, and will kick off their bid for glory by taking on Senegal at Old Trafford on Thursday 26th July (20:00 kick-off).
Next up is the United Arab Emirates at Wembley Stadium three days later on Sunday 29th July (19:45 kick-off) before their group involvement rounds off with the match against Uruguay at the Millennium Stadium on Wednesday 1st August (19:45 kick-off).
If Team GB finish in first or second spot in Group A, they will face a quarter-final fixture at one of Wembley Stadium or the Millennium Stadium on Saturday 4th August.
Semi-finals take place on Tuesday 7th August, before the showpiece final is staged at Wembley on Saturday 11th August with a third-place play-off taking place in Cardiff the previous evening.
