- Palace are 13th with 13 points; Saints (16th) can leapfrog the Eagles with victory
- Édouard grabs the opener for Palace on 38 minutes
- Saints with the majority of the chances during the second 45 as they search an equaliser
FULL-TIME: Palace 1-0 Saints
Édouard's first-half goal is the difference as Palace come away with all three points. Saints certainly upped their pressure during the second half, unfortunate not to grab a point through a double Ché Adams chance, but Palace held firm for the win at Selhurst Park.
Southampton substitution: Sékou Mara replaces Stuart Armstrong
Sékou Mara introduced for Saints.
Crystal Palace substitution: Jairo Riedewald replaces Michael Olise
Another switch for the hosts.
Ayew and Zaha waste glorious chance...
They break into the box two-on-one, Zaha couldn't decide where to go and Ayew's low ball is easily blocked behind.
Yellow Card for Tyrick Mitchell (Crystal Palace)
Mitchell fouls Edozie.
Bazunu tips away Ayew's low cross...
Palace looking to add a second here, Bazunu doing well to avert the danger.

Another good move from Saints, Aribo however with a tame effort at the end of this passage.

A 100th Premier League appearance for Will Hughes as he replaces Édouard.

Southampton substitution: Samuel Edozie replaces Mohamed Elyounoussi
Another Saints switch.
In search of an equaliser 👀
All Saints here...
JUST wide from Prowsey 😩
Unlucky from the skipper, who has space and lets fly from range. Just wide of the Palace goal.
Milivojevic fires over from range
A glimpse for the hosts, but Bazunu is unfazed by the long-range strike.
Adams denied by Guaita...
Great play from Saints again, Aribo slipping in Adams who has time but see's the shot well saved.

OFF THE POST, STU! 😰
Great break from Saints, Aribo feeding Stu Armstrong who fires his shot against the post from left of the goal. COME ON SAINTS!
GREAT challenge, Lyanco 👊
The Brazilian has to get the challenge right on Zaha who could be in one-on-one, which is exactly what he did!
Stuart Armstrong tests Palace keeper! 👏
From a tight angle the Scot forces another good save from Guaita! Saints pressing here...
Adams denied by Guaita 😩
WHAT a chance for Saints! Ward-Prowse feeds Adams in one-by-one, who can only fire his shot against the Palace keeper.
Saints players appeal for handball...
A lovely move from the visitors, Moi's shot was blocked inside the box by what looked like a hand. Nothing doing from VAR. It would have been harsh after a deflection off a boot.
Zaha's shot deflected behind
He cuts inside and looks to curl into the far corner but for an important Saints block. We say 'important', it was offside anyway but the flag has only just gone up.
Back to work...
Let's up this, Saints!
Southampton substitution: Ainsley Maitland-Niles replaces Ibrahima Diallo
A half-time switch for Ralph Hasenhüttl.
HALF-TIME: Palace 1-0 Saints
It's been all Palace during the first 45. Édouard had a goal disallowed before he eventually did make the Palace pressure pay on 38 minutes, finishing off from a Mitchell square ball. Saints started with a bit of pressure, but have sinced failed to test Guaita at Selhurst Park.
Yellow Card for Mohamed Elyounoussi (Southampton)
A third Saints player gets a booking
Yellow Card for Mohammed Salisu (Southampton)
Second booking for Saints who haults Édouard as he breaks.
Edouard gets his goal
It's been coming, Mitchell bursts down the left and squares the ball into Edouard, who fires past Bazunu.
GOAL
Odsonne Édouard (37’) | 1 – 0

Palace corners cause problems
Bazunu comes flying out but is no where near the ball, which falls behind for another corner. The second corner is headed goalwards by Andersen which Bazunu claims well.
Ćaleta-Car denies Edouard
The Saints defender puts in an important foot at the last to deny Edouard as Palace continue to threaten.
Orders from the touchline 🗣
Edouard scores...but the flag is raised
Saints get away with one. Edouard is deemed offside and is denied an opener.
Zaha also receives a booking
The Palace winger gets a booking for his protests.
Yellow Card for Lyanco Vojnovic (Southampton)
A booking for the full-back after a challenge on Zaha.
Eze fires wide again
Not on target this time from the Palace man, who looks for the same target but drags it wide.
Eze forces good Bazunu save
The Palace midfielder finds space on the edge of the box after a nice passing move, he aims for the keeper's bottom right corner but Bazunu does well to get down to it and push it behind.
OFF THE POST! 😩
The flag went up retrospectively, but Ché Adams did well to get away from his Palace man and curl an effort against the post. Flag should have gone up earlier though really...
Small spell of pressure for Saints...
Perraud shows his pace down the left, before a Salisu long throw causes some panic in the Palace box. Still looking to get their grip on this game, Ralph Hasenhüttl's side.
Eze falls to the ground in the box
Huge cries for a penalty from the home support and players. VAR says nothing doing.
Early battle at Selhurst ⚔️
Zaha steers shot inches wide
A superb flick from Eze finds the path of Zaha, who fires a ball across goal with pace which narrowly misses an outstretched Edouard.
Milivojevic fires into Lyanco
Schlupp spins Salisu who sets up the captain, his shot well blocked by Lyanco
Joel Ward bundled over by Stu Armstrong
Palace with a free-kick deep into the Saints half but by the near corner flag
Milivojevic fires free-kick over
Gavin Bazunu unfazed as the ball sails over
Zaha wins free-kick as Palace break...
Elyuonoussi tracks back and fouls Wilfried Zaha, gifting a free-kick on the edge of the box.

12.3312.17for roméo, today (thursday) was the first time in the session. i would like to have him in the squad at the weekend, but i don't have the ok so far from the physios, so we have to wait. with armel, it also looks good - it could be that he starts to train next week with the team. with kyle, we will see if it's possible for him to make the last game (before the winter break) against Liverpool."
