Nice play between Diallo and Romeu as Saints continue to search for goals at St Mary's, Romeu cuts it back to Diallo who tries his luck from an angle but his shot is safely recovered by Fernández.

Perraud earns Saints a free-kick on the left flank with Ward-Prowse delivering yet another wonderful ball but the Brentford defence get enough to it to clear.

After a dominating couple of minutes of play from the visitors, Saints extend their lead at St Mary's. A fabulous pass from Romeu finds the feet of Broja who dances into the penalty area before releasing a shot towards goal to make it 3-1!

An electric first half at St Mary's as Southampton lead Brentford 2-1 at the break. Bednarek's header saw Saints take the lead after just five minutes of play before the Bees found an equaliser a little under 20 minutes later. A superb shot from Diallo was deflected off goalkeeper Fernández and into the back of the net as Saints regained their lead. Come on you Saints!

Some wonderful team play from Saints as they make their way into the area with the ball eventually falling at the feet of Romeu. His looping shot looks promising but it edges just over the crossbar.

A lovely bit of work on the right flank between Redmond and Broja, with the Albanian then launching a tantalising ball into the area but Perraud can't make the connection.

There's a bit of a tussle in the box as Stuart Attwell is forced to intervene before Ward-Prowse launches in another delightful delivery from the corner. It's cleared as far as Perraud but his shot goes wide of the post.

Just moments after scoring the first, Janelt has another shot on target for the visitors, it's a strong clearance from Forster who punches away before Diallo clears for good.

It's been a difficult start at St Mary's for the visitors, the ball seems to be heading into the path of Toney but Lyanco is there to safely clear for Saints and the threat passes.

A clumsy challenge from Lyanco sees the visitors awarded a set piece. It's a long way out as Janelt delivers the ball, but Diallo produces a strong header to see it clear.
