FULL TIME: Saints 1-2 Wolves
A disappointing afternoon at St Mary's, as Wolves come back from a goal down to collect all three points. Danny Ings had given the hosts the lead, before a Rúben Neves penalty and Pedro Neto strike condemned Ralph Hasenhüttl's side to a sixth straight league defeat.
Five minutes added on ⏰
There will be five minutes of additional time at the end of this one. Come on, Saints!
Yellow Card for Pedro Lomba Neto (Wolverhampton Wanderers)
Neto is booked for delaying a Saints free-kick from being taken.
Good chance for Adams!
Redmond's cross perfectly picks out Adams, but his diving header is comfortably wide in the end.
Wolves run down the clock
The visitors are content with their lead, as Saints frustratingly try and muster a late spell of pressure.
Double save from Patricio!
How close can you get! Ward-Prowse has his strike from the edge of the box parried by Patricio, but the Wolves stopper is up quick to deny Adams on the rebound.
Into the final 15... ⏳
We're into the final 15 minutes at St Mary's, with the hosts needing to dig deep to salvage at least a point from a game of contrasting halves so far.
Saints alter formation
The loss of Walker-Peters appears to see Saints move to three at the back, with Djenepo and Bertrand operating as wing-backs, ahead of Salisu, Vestergaard and Bednarek.
A worry for Saints, as Kyle Walker-Peters is down and in need of treatment. The full-back only returned from injury on Thursday.
Wolves turn it around
Neves feeds the ball to Neto on the right-hand side of the box, who wriggles his way past Vestergaard before squeezing a strike past Alex McCarthy at the near post.
Pedro Lomba Neto (66’) | 1 – 2
A battle at St Mary's ⚔️
It's a very different second half now, as the visitors enjoy a good spell of pressure. It feels the next goal could be vital...
Yellow Card for Jan Bednarek (Southampton)
Jan Bednarek is the second Southampton player in the book for a foul on Pedro Neto.
Neves tries his luck from range
Feeling confident after converting from the penalty spot, Neves tries his luck with a volley from 20 yards, but it's a comfortable save for McCarthy.
Saints almost respond immediately
It's almost an instant response from Saints, as Armstrong's driven shot from the edge of the box takes a deflection off of Conor Coady and flashes just wide.
Yellow Card for Romain Saïss (Wolverhampton Wanderers)
Romain Säiss goes into the book for a very forceful tackle on Stuart Armstrong.
Rúben Neves equalises
It's a confident penalty from Neves, who sends McCarthy the wrong way to level it up.
Rúben Diogo da Silva Neves (53’) | 1 – 1
Penalty to Wolves!
Nélson Semedo's strike comes off of Ryan Bertrand's arm and the referee points to the spot. Harsh on the Saints full-back, who couldn't do anything about it.
Flurry of corners for Wolves
João Moutinho has the opportunity to look for a gold shirt in the middle with two early corners in the second half, but Saints stand tall in the middle and deny any real danger.
Back to it! 👊
The second half begins at St Mary's. More of the same, lads!
HALF TIME: Saints 1-0 Wolves
It's been a fantastic performance from Ralph Hasenhüttl's side who have dominated proceedings so far. Danny Ings's superb volley from Stuart Armstrong's cross separates the two sides at the halfway stage.
Rare foray forward for Wolves
The visitors have struggled to get forward in the opening 45 minutes, and Jonny's cross - which goes straight behind for a goal kick - sums up the half for Wolves.
Redmond fluffs his lines
It's more smart build up play from Saints as Ings finds his strike partner in the middle, but Redmond's attempted strike is scuffed and doesn't trouble Patrício.
Goalscorer 🤝 Provider
Danny Ings thanks Stuart Armstrong after firing home a stunning volley at St Mary's to open the scoring.
Saints remain on the front foot
The hosts have their tails up now, as they continue to enjoy some good territory.
TAKE A BOW INGSY! 🔥
Oh that is some finish! Armstrong makes a brilliant run down the left and looks for Ings in the middle, and the striker's volley from 12 yards gives Rui Patrício absolutely no chance. Superb Saints play!
Danny Ings (25’) | 1 – 0
Almost the opener 😅
Nathan Redmond reacts to seeing his curling effort brilliantly saved by Rui Patrício, as Saints begin to pile on the pressure.
Redmond goes close!
What a save from Rui Patrício! Danny Ings tees up the ball for Nathan Redmond, and the attacker's first-time curling effort looks destined for the far corner, but for a finger tip stop from Wolves' keeper.
Yellow Card for Oriol Romeu (Southampton)
Oriol Romeu is the first player into the referee's book for a late challenge on João Moutinho. Incidentally, Romeu becomes the first Southampton player to receive a card on a Valentine's Day fixture.
An evenly contested affair
Both sides have seen plenty of the ball in the opening quarter-of-an-hour, with possession split 50/50. Chances remain at a premium, however.
Minamino forces a save!
It's smart play from Saints, as Minamino plays in Redmond. The striker holds up the play well to feed the ball back for Minamino, but his low effort is well saved by Rui Patrício.
Ings looking dangerous
Danny Ings, as he did on Thursday night, breaks the offside trap to get in behind the Wolves defence. His eventual cross is blocked, but it's a promising start from Saints' number nine.
José heads over
A chance from a set-piece for Wolves, but Willian José can only head over the bar from Pedro Neto's deep set-piece delivery.
Home debut 😇
Takumi Minamino is enjoying his first outing at St Mary's this afternoon.
Early sighting for Redmond
Saints are straight on the front foot as Takumi Minamino looks to find Nathan Redmond in the middle, but the attacker's first touch lets him down and Wolves are able to clear their lines when a shot on goal may have been on the cards.
