FULL TIME: Saints 3-1 Crystal Palace
That Southampton performance was different to what we've seen in recent weeks. Despite conceding early on, Saints grew into the game and controlled the ball well across the pitch. Fraser Forster's magnificent penalty save just before the break, a brace from Danny Ings and Ché Adams' poacher resulted in a long awaited win for Ralph Hasenhüttl's men.
Yellow Card for Wilfried Zaha (Crystal Palace)
Redmond fires high
Can't fault a guy for trying. Southampton continue to put pressure on the Crystal Palace defence as this game draws to a close. Redmond takes his chances but his shot fires over the crossbar. 3 additional minutes left to play ...
Saints continue to press
Walker-Peters has been a threat on the right flank all evening. He crosses in a ball to Michael Obafemi but the Palace defence is there to clear.
Ice cold Ingsy 🥶
Here's looking at you, kid.
Yellow Card for Cheikhou Kouyaté (Crystal Palace)
It's good to have you back, Ingsy
A perfectly timed pass from Ché Adams who finds the feet of Danny Ings with ease. Calm and collected as ever, Ings finds the back of the net for a second time this evening to extend Saints' lead.
Danny Ings (74’) | 3 – 1
Saints continue to press
Saints haven't let their foot off the gas yet, despite having the lead at St Mary's.
Acrobatics from Forster
It's been a much stronger second-half from Saints so far, who have found themselves in greater control of the ball. Palace push forward but Forster is there to deny Schlupp, who is later deemed offside.
Ward-Prowse has been looking increasingly dangerous behind that set piece ball since the match started. Whether it was a shot or a cross from Armstrong, Ché Adams' goal kick-started the second-half at St Mary's in perfect style.
Saints on the attack
Walker-Peters finds Ché Adams in the box but the ball is pushed behind for another Southampton corner.
Yellow Card for Jannik Vestergaard (Southampton)
Forster makes another vital save
This time it's Zaha on the charge forward but an outstretched Forster manages to palm the ball clear.
Palace instant retaliation
Benteke finds himself in on goal after a wonderful ball in from Eze, but his header is once again punched away by the strong stance of Fraser Forster.
Adams puts Saints in front 😇
What a start to the second-half which shows no signs of slowing down anytime soon. James Ward-Prowse crosses another tantalising corner into the feet of Stuart Armstrong, his cross forward edges past Jack Stephens but Ché Adams slots the ball into the back of the net to put Saints ahead for the first time this evening.
Ché Adams (48’) | 2 – 1
HALF TIME: Saints 1-1 Crystal Palace
What an opening 45 in SO14. Christian Benteke launched the visitors ahead after just three minutes but Danny Ings drew the men in red level soon after through a wonderfully controlled ball. The drama ensued as Palace were awarded a penalty as the half drew to a close but Fraser Forster's judgement was spot-on as he denied Milivojevic from the spot, leaving it all square as we head into the break.
Ward-Prowse comes close
Of course it's James Ward-Prowse behind the dead ball but his shot curls just wide.
Yellow Card for Jordan Ayew (Crystal Palace)
Ayew makes a reckless challenge on Nathan Redmond and finds himself in the books alongside Jan Bednarek, dangerous free-kick for Saints on its way.
Yellow Card for Jan Bednarek (Southampton)
Fraser Forster you beauty 🥵
It's Milivojevic that gets behind the penalty spot for Palace but Fraser Forster correctly dives left and punches the ball away in excellent fashion.
VAR Decision: Penalty awarded for Crystal Palace [Wilfried Zaha] was confirmed
Saints pushing forward
Minamino sets up Jack Stephens who launches a shot towards goal but Guaita is there yet again for Palace as he knocks the ball behind for a corner. Ward-Prowse's corner does result in a small appeal for a foul in the box on Jan Bednarek but the referee denies it.
Saints on the counter
Just like that the tables have turned and James Ward-Prowse charges down the pitch for Saints. He slots in a ball to Takumi Minamino but his cross into Ings is deflected back for a Southampton throw-in.
Eze whips in a tempting free-kick but Forster is there to clear the threat for Saints.
Better from Saints
James Ward-Prowse has lined up six times from the corner spot already in this fixture, each time looking slightly more dangerous than the last.
Close from Saints
Ché Adams finds Nathan Redmond moving forward who aims for the far corner but it's knocked behind the post by Guaita.
Excellence from Ings
Ings scored in superb style there finding just about the only route to the back of the net. With Saints back level, can they turn this match around?
Saints are back on level terms at St Mary's as Nathan Redmond's cross in finds the feet of Danny Ings, controlling the ball nicely, Ings finds the back of the net for the 12th time this season.
Danny Ings (19’) | 1 – 1
Saints holding the ball
It's been a pretty quiet game since Benteke's opener, Saints are keeping the ball well in the centre of midfield, with Kyle Walker-Peters being conveniently placed on the wing a couple of times but there's no real threat on the attack.
Saints searching for an equaliser
It's been a rocky opening 10 minutes here at St Mary's as Southampton desperately try to find some rhythm to get back into this game. James Ward-Prowse lines up the corner, but his curling ball meets the head of the Palace defence and goes behind for another.
Benteke scores early for Palace
Crystal Palace were quick out of the blocks, being awarded a dangerous free-kick early on. Christian Benteke is the man to get the better of Fraser Forster as the visitors take an early lead.
Christian Benteke (2’) | 0 – 1
Early chance for Palace
It's a quick start from Roy Hodgson's men but Christian Benteke's long-range shot goes wide of the right post.
