FULL TIME: Wolves 0 - 2 Saints
Saints progress to the quarter-finals of the Emirates FA Cup. After a disappointing few games, this is the boost the team needed to push forward. Quarter-final draw coming soon ...
VAR Decision: Penalty not awarded for Southampton [Nathan Tella] was cancelled
Penalty receded as Tella was just outside the box when the tackle was made. Free-kick just outside the box for Saints as the clock runs down.
Yellow Card for Adama Traoré (Wolverhampton Wanderers)
STU SCORES SCREAMERS
Stuart Armstrong has been exceptional all game but this has rounded it off perfectly. Nathan Tella, who has only just come onto the pitch, crosses the ball into Armstrong who nets the ball with an exemplary finish.
GOOOAL!!!
Stuart Armstrong (89’) | 0 – 2
Disappointing from Neves
Neves, who is usually so on form when it comes to free-kicks, knocks the ball straight into the wall and Saints can breathe again.
Wolves pressing
Wolves are trying to find their way back into this game and charge forward. Romeu comes in with a late challenge and gives Wolves the free-kick in a promising position.
Yellow Card for Oriol Romeu (Southampton)
10 minutes left ...
Only 10 of the 90 left to play at Molineux. Can Saints hold onto their lead and secure their place in tonight's FA Cup quarter-final draw?
Beautiful from Forster
Exceptional ball in from Neto who crosses it into Traore and gets Wolves' first shot on target of the match, Forster gets a foot onto it and clears his lines. The ball goes behind for a corner.
Close from Redmond
It's Stuart Armstrong again who leads the charge for Saints, he puts in a perfectly timed ball to onside Redmond but Ruddy makes the save and punches it behind for the corner.
Ings is a grafter 💪
Seconds after opening the scoring, Ings was back making crucial moves in defense for Saints.
Yellow Card for Morgan Gibbs-White (Wolverhampton Wanderers)
Wolves come close
Salisu playing with fire for a second there. He tries to clear the ball from his own penalty area but it only goes as far as Hoever who crosses it into Fabio Silva. Bednarek gets there just in time and the threat is cleared, for now.
Yellow Card for Kyle Walker-Peters (Southampton)
VAR Decision: Goal awarded for Southampton [Danny Ings] was confirmed
Ings' goal was originally given offside but VAR has overturned it and the goal is given!
INGSYYYYYY
Run on point from Danny Ings. Saints take the advantage early in the second half. Nail-biting stuff to come ...
GOOOAL!!!
Danny Ings (50’) | 0 – 1
SO CLOSE!!
A lively start to the second-half. Bertrand crosses the ball in but Armstrong's attempt is off target.
Back up and running
Wolves get us back up and running at Molineux. When will this deadlock be broken?
HALF TIME: Wolves 0 - 0 Saints
It's been a frantic first half at Molineux with neither team really hitting their stride. Southampton have looked the more promising in the first 45 but neither side has monopolised on their chances. A big 45 ahead. Remember, the game will go to extra time if the deadlock isn't broken.
Chance before the break
Armstrong has been incredibly lively for Saints, he fires forward again and passes the ball into Ings but the ball goes behind and the opportunity passes.
Wolves push back
Wolves win a free kick and it's Moutinho to lift the ball into the box but Saiss' effort fires over the crossbar.
Better from Saints
Bertrand crosses the ball from the wing into the six-yard box but Redmond can't quite control it to get a shot on goal.
No sign of breaking the deadlock
The breaks in play have taken the wind out of the game a little bit. Saints started the better side but Wolves have edged their way back into it as the half has progressed, though there's still not been any notable attempts on goal in quite some time now.
Wolves charge forward
Morgan Gibbs-White into the six-yard-box for Wolves but debutant Salisu makes the tackle and VAR confirms no clear and obvious error was made. On field decision remains and no penalty awarded.
Vitinha OK
Wolves' Vitinha down for a couple of minutes following an accidental clash. Medical checks complete and he's back on the field of play!
All Saints so far
Ward-Prowse loops in a delightful ball to Kyle Walker-Peters who sets up Moussa Djenepo, his shot is on target but saved comfortably by the Wolves goalkeeper.
Saints pressing
Armstrong leads the attack forward with a lovely cross into Nathan Redmond who tries to knock it back for Danny Ings, the ball passes and ends up back with Armstrong whose shot is deflected wide for a corner.
First attacking chance for Wolves
First sign of promise for Wolves as Hoever whips in the ball towards Fabio Silva but centurion Bednarek makes the tackle and the threat is cleared. Saints are back in control of the ball.
Stunning move from Ings
Ward-Prowse curls the ball in to Danny Ings who knocks the ball down in an exceptional move, Saiss comes in with the block to deny him but Saints have yet another corner.
Positive start from Saints
Nice bit of play from Saints on the wing for Djenepo to win a corner. Ward-Prowse loops in the ball but it's punched away by Ruddy. No respite for Wolves though as Saints go onto win another two corners. Both of which create promising chances for Saints, but amount to nothing.
