FULL TIME: AFC Bournemouth 0-3 Southampton
What an emphatic display from a Southampton side who have struggled to find form in recent weeks. Nathan Redmond bagged two goals as well as assisting Djenepo's opener, to secure a comfortable victory for Ralph Hasenhüttl's men. A cracking display in this south-coast clash as Saints now march on to Wembley for the FA Cup semi-finals.
Yellow Card for Sam Surridge (Bournemouth)
Strong block from Forster
Bournemouth are still trying to press for a consolation goal as Anthony loops the ball into Surridge but his header finds the hands of Forster.
Yellow Card for Jack Wilshere (Bournemouth)
Clock's running down ⏰
There's just six minutes of normal time left to play here at the Vitality Stadium and Saints show no sign of slowing down. Remond, Armstrong and Adams all look dangerous on the attack and are eager to add to today's goal tally.
What a game this man is having
Redmond is inches away from bagging his hat-trick. Stuart Armstrong covers some ground with the ball to get into the penalty area and Nathan Redmond doesn't hesitate as he fires another ball goal-bound but this time it edges slightly wide.
Yellow Card for Jannik Vestergaard (Southampton)
Some nice play from Saints as they pile the pressure on Bournemouth. Stuart Armstrong is the latest Saints player to get a shot off on goal but it's cleared behind and James Ward-Prowse steps up for the corner.
That hurt 🤕
Wilshere and Djenepo clash in midair and both hit the ground. Djenepo stays down a little longer, though and has a head injury assessment. He's given the all clear and the game resumes,
Brace time ✌️
Stuart Armstrong's shot hits the post but Nathan Redmond is instictively there to recover it as he bags his second, and Saints third, goal of the afternoon.
Nathan Redmond (58’) | 0 – 3
VAR Decision: Goal not awarded for Southampton [Ché Adams] was cancelled
A lengthy VAR review results in Ché Adams' goal being ruled offside.
Ché Adams (53’) | 0 – 2
Bournemouth search for a way back in
Bournemouth have come out fighting in the second period. The home side press forward with Wilshere and Billing playing a 1-2. Wilshere launches a shot after beating Bednarek, but his effort goes just wide and crashes into the side netting.
The action has resumed at the Vitality Stadium with Saints looking to build on their two-goal cushion they created in the first-half. Can Bournemouth pull something out of the bag?
HALF TIME: AFC Bournemouth 0-2 Southampton
Saints have a two goal advantage at the break, despite having a goal disallowed early on by VAR. Moussa Djenepo's goal on the counter edged Ralph Hasenhüttl's men in front. Playing a huge part in the first goal, Nathan Redmond then got one of his own to double Saints' lead heading into the break. A big 45 minutes ahead as Saints look to secure their place in the Emirates FA Cup semi-finals.
REDMOND MAKES IT TWO
A superb solo effort from Nathan Redmond. Stuart Armstrong crosses Redmond in, who then charges forward to net a fantastic goal into the far corner. Saints now head into the break with a two goal advantage.
Nathan Redmond (+1’) | 0 – 2
Difficult for Bournemouth
That was a disappointing turn of events for Bournemouth, who despite starting the weaker side had really worked their way into the game before the goal. Can Saints hold on to the lead as half-time approaches?
Things you love to see ❤️
There's no doubting that one. Saints find the net for the second time at the Vitality Stadium but this time it counts and they take the lead shortly before the break. Nathan Redmond finds Moussa Djenepo who confidently slots the ball into the far corner.
Moussa Djenepo (37’) | 0 – 1
Better from Bournemouth
Another free-kick for Bournemouth and again, Saints fail to make an adequate clearance. Bournemouth remain in posession but the immediate threat on goal is eased.
Chance for Bournemouth
Bednarek picks up a yellow card and hands Bournemouth a free-kick in the process. The ball is darted into the area and Adams clearance isn't enough to relieve the pressure. Cook finds Riquelme whose shot goes wide.
Yellow Card for Jan Bednarek (Southampton)
A positive start for Saints
Saints win a free-kick in a dangerous position as Djenepo is taken down by Carter-Vickers. James Ward-Prowse lines it up and gets his shot off on goal but the keeper takes it comfortably.
Bournemouth take a shot
Solanke releases Danjuma who launches his shot on goal from close range at the near post but Fraser Forster punches it clear.
Saints stand firm
The disallowed goal hasn't stopped Saints from pressing, they're really looking a threat on the attack now. Armstrong storms down the right wing and pulls the ball back to Bertrand, his shot goes wide but it's looking promising for the visitors.
VAR Decision: Goal not awarded for Southampton [Kyle Walker-Peters] was cancelled
It looked as though Southampton had taken an early lead against their Championship opponents but Kyle Walker-Peters is ruled offside and the goal is diallowed.
(10’) | 0 – 0
A corner at the other end of the pitch now as the ball is looped into Solanke. The ball ends up in the safe hands of Fraser Forster and the threat is cleared.
Lively start from both sides
Danjuma is already looking a real threat down that left wing for Bournemouth but it's Saints that have had the better opportunity when they respond with the counter. Walker-Peters keeps the ball alive and feeds it into Diallo who gets his shot off. It takes a deflection and the ball heads behind for a corner.
