FULL-TIME: Everton 1-0 Saints
Everton take all three points in a game which had very few clear-cut chances. Richarlison's ninth minute goal was the decider, with Saints having spells at times during the 90 minutes. Both Moussa Djenepo and Jannik Vestergaard had late chances to grab an equaliser but ultimately it's defeat for Saints at Goodison Park.

HALF-TIME: Everton 1-0 Saints
Saints started brightly but it was Everton who profited from the early stages; RIcharlison rounding Fraser Forster and grabbing the hosts the lead on nine minutes. Michael Keane's header looked to have given Everton a second just shy of the half hour mark but VAR ruled it out for offside. Saints have had periods of good possession, but yet to truly test Pickford. Plenty to play for at Goodison.

Saints held their line well again from the resulting free-kick meaning the flag was raised, but Forster was not to know as he makes a superb point-blank stop to deny RIcharlison and Everton a second.
