Boufal curls just wide
Moments before those substitutions, Sofiane Boufal worked room inside the corner of the area and bent a right-footed shot just past the far post.
Redmond so close to an equaliser
Nathan Redmond brings a Cédric cross to the back post under control and strikes a right-footed shot which appears to be heading for the bottom corner, only for it to clip Jack Stacey's boot and loop behind.
Ramsdale denies Boufal
Sofiane Boufal again causing problems, and his rasping left-footed strike from distance draws a fine save from Aaron Ramsdale, before Boufal sets up James Ward-Prowse for a shot from distance, only for it to slice well wide.

Penalty for Saints!

So close from Ward-Prowse
The best move of the match from Saints. Great footwork from Sofiane Boufal down the inside-left, before spreading a brilliant pass to the far side where Cédric is waiting. He then hits a low, first-time ball into the centre, which James Ward-Prowse meets, but his side-footed effort flies inches over the bar.
Second half is under way
We're back in action at St Mary's! Let's see if Saints can turn this around...
HALF TIME: Southampton 0-2 Bournemouth
Not a good first 45 minutes for Southampton, who trail to Nathan Aké and Harry Wilson's goals. A lot of work to do after the break for Ralph Hasenhüttl's side to get back into this one.

Bournemouth double their lead for sure this time
There won't be any hope of a VAR check helping Saints this time. Philip Billing gets to the byline and picks out Harry Wilson with a perfect cutback, and the midfielder makes no mistake, rolling a shot across Angus Gun and into the far corner.
GOAL
Harry Wilson (34’) | 0 – 2

PHEW!
The fourth time this season VAR has ruled out a goal against Southampton!
Redmond flashes the ball across the face of goal
Great work from Oriol Romeu to win the ball deep in Bournemouth's half, and he finds Nathan Redmond on the right side of the area, with the forward flashing a low, angled ball right across the face of goal, but no Saints player is there to get on the end of it.
Ward-Prowse fires over from distance
Saints looking to capitalise on the energy gained from that Bournemouth goal being ruled out, and James Ward-Prowse sets himself to shoot from about 25 yards, but his effort rises a good couple of yards over the bar.
VAR Decision: Goal awarded for Bournemouth [Joshua King] was cancelled
King was offside when he was played through by Solanke, so the goal is ruled out, and Saints are still only one behind!

Saints create the first opening!
Good work from Ché Adams, whose clever flick frees up Cédric in space on the byline. His cutback picks out James Ward-Prowse in a decent spot, but his contact isn't great, and his side-footed effort drifts wide of the far post. Positive work from Saints, though!
Danso starting at right-back
Saints appear to be setting up with four at the back in the early stages, although Kevin Danso is on the right side, while Cédric has begun the night on the left.
