FULL-TIME: West Ham 3-0 Saints
Not our day at the London Stadium as the hosts claim all three points and move into the top half of the Premier League table. Saints return to action at St Mary's on the final day to face already relegated Huddersfield.
Well dealt with by Balbuena, who was alive to the danger. Prowsey delivers the resulting corner, which is again cleared. It doesn't seem to be falling the way of Saints today.
Perez tees up Arnautovic
The substitute did well down the right, cutting inside and finding the run of danger man Arnautovic, who had peeled off the back of Bednarek. He took one touch to steady himself, but curled the effort marginally wide.
Arnautovic fires wide
On a hat-trick, the forward goes for a goal from a free-kick. Flies well wide of Forster's net.
Yellow Card for Oriol Romeu (Southampton)
Fredericks delivers killer blow
He linked well with substitute Jack Wilshere, whose cute flick found the full-back marauding forward down the right. It fell kindly for him, as Jack Stephens attempted to intercept, but the eventual shot was well executed,
Ryan Fredericks (72’) | 3 – 0
Credit goes to Masuaku who got to the byline and stood an inviting ball up towards the back post. Forster attempted to clear, but inadvertently pushed the ball onto Jan Bednarek, before Arnautovic headed home from close range.
Marko Arnautovic (69’) | 2 – 0
Shouts for a penalty
Shane Long goes down under the pressure of Fredericks, who got himself between man and ball. Referee uninterested, before Lanzini breaks up the opposite end, forcing a smart stop from Forster at his near post.
Pulling the strings
Long flicks the ball back for Redmond, who is Saints' biggest threat. The shot ricochets behind, before he gets another go from Bertrand's corner - Fabianski this time with the save.
Redmond finds Elyounoussi
Or at least he tries to, but the pass is cut out. Saints pressing here, with Redmond at the heart of everything. Elyounoussi was again found by Armstrong moments later, and the first touch is good, but he's quickly crowded out.
Last ditch tackle from Noble
Armstrong had burst through the centre, but the midfielder recovered well to win the ball. The tackle was perfectly timed, and needed to be, on the edge of his own area.
Bertrand corner causes concern
The full-back whips a ball centrally, which bypasses Long but finds Redmond lurking at the back post. The shot is diverted behind by Fredericks but Saints can't capitalise on the resulting corner. Positive start to the second period!
Saints already looking more effective in the final third, after the introduction of the substitute. He's linking well with both Armstrong and Long in these opening exchanges.
HALF-TIME: West Ham 1-0 Saints
The visitors trail at the break, after Marko Arnautovic's opener. Not a huge amount separating the sides, but West Ham have been the more clinical in front of goal.
Vital interception from Stephens
He turns the ball off the line, before Antonio strikes for a second time, which is well saved by Fraser Forster, bringing a close to a fairly uneventful first half.
Heavens have opened ☔️
Big downpour at the London Stadium. Danny Ings tries to make something of Shane Long's flick, but it doesn't come off. Some promising passages of play here, but nothing incisive from the boys in yellow and blue.
Competent save from Forster, low to his left. The shot never really troubled him, but needed intervention nonetheless.
Armstrong ventures forward
Neat interchange between the Scot and Elyounoussi, and is then fouled by Obiang. Ryan Bertand delivers, but it's cleared; only as far as Elyounoussi again, who tried to find Shane Long but Fabianksi intercepts.
Forster saves from Lanzini
The Argentinian cuts inside and curls an effort at goal, which is fisted clear by Forster. He got enough on it to deter any further effort from a West Ham shit, as they begin to dominate chances created.
Noble feeds Arnautovic
A mistake from Yan Valery is pounced upon by the Hammers captain, who plays a through ball into the path of Arnautovic, and he slides it beneath Fraser Forster.
Marko Arnautovic (15’) | 1 – 0
Elyounoussi on the volley
He links well with Ryan Bertrand, cleverly flicks the ball over Diop, before firing goalward on the volley. Effort is wide of the mark, but good intent from the Norwegian.
Ings on the charge
Danny Ings looks to get Saints on the front foot as he shuts down Fabianski. No real chances for the visitors, bar Armstrong's early effort.
Fairly scrappy opening, but the hosts are beginning to offer threat. Arnautovic tees up Diangana, who lets fly. The shot is well-blocked by Jack Stephens, who throws his body in the way.
Danny Ings plays in Armstrong down the right, who had Shane Long for company but elected to go himself. The shot misses the target, but was a presentable early chance for the visitors, who look quick on the break.
Hosts with possession
West Ham keeping the ball well, in fairly innocuous positions. Saints happy to soak up the pressure, before playing on the break...
