The midfielder sees his free-kick headed away and then his follow up cross is seen out before Long can get there.

Saints have certainly had the better of the opportunities in that opening 45 minutes, with Tadić unlucky not to have done better. Burnley were kept quiet for most of the half.

Saints again work the ball across from right to left with Redmond playing in Tadić, but his low shot across goal goes agonizingly wide of the right post.

The Serbian receives the ball inside the area from a deflected cross and turns one man before firing a low shot which is blocked by a couple of Burnley defenders.

The striker picks up a rebound on Ward-Prowse's free-kick and then sees a long range shot blocked by Jeff Hendrick inside the area.

Virgil van Dijk reads the situation well as George Boyd almost bursts clear from Lowton's pass, but the Saints man is quick to clear the lines.
