After back-to-back cup outings it was a return to National League Southern Premier action for Marieanne Spacey-Cale's side on Wednesday.

They faced a tough trip to promotion rivals Oxford United, with Alisha Ware getting an early opener before Carly Johns equalised in what was an eventual point-a-piece for both sides.

Bridgwater also faced a difficult task in their last outing, hosting another of Saints' promotion challengers Ipswich Town last Sunday.

Anna Grey got the only goal of the game for the visitors, on what was a brave performance by Bridgwater against tricky opposition.

It's been just under a month since the two sides last met in National League Southern Premier.

After an intense opening 45 minutes Sophia Pharoah netted the opener for Saints in first-half stoppage time at Fairfax Park.

The second came midway through the second half, Ella Pusey with an instinctive effort that caught everyone by surprise and capped off an impressive away victory.

"It's another game to look forward to," said Spacey-Cale, "we've needed to rest, recover and refocus after Wednesday.

"When you're a player you want to play games, the girls will be fired up and ready to go again on Sunday.

"Big shoutout to our travelling fans during the week, we heard them and hopefully they can come back again on Sunday and help us with another tough game."
