Women earn two Goal of the Month nominations
Southampton FC Women's Aimee Palmer and Jess Simpson have been shortlisted for the Barclays Women's Super League 2's January Goal of the Month.
It's the first time this season that Saints have earned recognition for the monthly goal award, as the pair of impressive strikes from the south coast derby win against Portsmouth are nominated.
Simpson scored the first WSL2 goal of 2026 in style, arriving late in the area to power home an emphatic finish that kick-started the stunning derby day victory under the lights.
Rounding off the result with the fourth goal on the night was Palmer, who displayed excellent technique to receive a cut back from Megan Collett on the turn before spinning and firing a shot into the bottom corner from just inside the area.
Voting will end on Wednesday 11 February at 10am, with the winner announcedon Friday 13 February.
The rest of the January shortlist consists of Charlie Wellings (Nottingham Forest), Jessie Gale (Bristol City), Molly-Mae Sharpe, and Hayley Ladd (both Crystal Palace).
