Premier League Supports: Damion

Walking out side by side with our captain to face Man City this afternoon is a very special Saints Foundation participant, 10 year old Damion.

Year 6 Damion’s work with Premier League Primary Stars has been a game-changer.

Damion hasn't always found school easy. The impact of lockdown had left him falling behind some classmates.

His school saw the opportunity to help from Damion find a new, different way to learn and engage with school life by connecting him with one of Saints Foundation’s amazing Primary Stars, Danny.

Sport – specifically football – has always been a big interest of Damion’s, and this passion was the hook Danny needed to reengage him with his maths.

During their weekly maths interventions, Danny has helped Damion brush up his skills and, most importantly, build up his confidence. He’s making great progress.

Despite his love of football, Damion has never actually had the opportunity to watch Saints play at St Mary's. Upon hearing about Damion's fantastic progress, the Premier League decided to change that, and offer him a matchday he'll never forget.

Thanks to this weekend’s celebration of the community work that Premier League money makes possible, Damion will walk out alongside the squad as the official captain's mascot and get the matchday experience of a lifetime. We went down with Danny to Damion's school to break the exciting news and present him with a bumper mascot pack, including a free Saints kit and a Premier League match ball.

Well done Damion, and keep your eyes peeled for him as he enjoys his first ever Saints game in style!
