WHAT’S AT STAKE?

Tuesday night's victory over QPR at St Mary's increased Saints' unbeaten league run to seven games, keeping Tonda Eckert's side to within four points of the play-off spots in the Sky Bet Championship.

Victory on Saturday could see them move to within one point of the play-offs, and they come up against an already relegated Sheffield Wednesday side who will be playing exclusively for pride.

Staying in the Sky Bet Championship was always going to be a tricky task for a side who were dealt an 18 point deduction this season, but having only picked up one league win all season, their fate was sealed against rivals Sheffield United on Sunday. Manager Henrik Pedersen will be hoping to show some pride as Saints visit Hillsborough.

TEAM NEWS

Sheffield Wednesday: The hosts continue to contend with an extensive injury list, with Pierce Charles, Murphy Cooper, Max Lowe, Ernie Weaver, Di'Shon Bernard, Liam Cooper, Nathaniel Chalobah, Marvelous Nakamba and George Brown all likely to be ruled out.

Saints:
During Friday's presser,Eckert revealed that a 'strong' team will be deployed to take on the Owls at Hillsborough.

"It’s going to be a lot of travelling for us with the game tomorrow and the next three games also being away from home. So we need to make sure we have the right amount of rest and training.

"We're looking good, the squad is looking good and we'll go as strong as we can tomorrow."

THE MANAGERS

Henrik Pedersen: "I think the game started really well. We gave it a go with our high press and we had some good wins of the ball high up the pitch. We could see the boys were dead at the end, they were very tired and it’s a young team who did all they could.

"I said to the players that after the relegation and the situation, we have to show who we want to be. We have fans who leave work early in the day and they will get home late tonight, and we have to make them proud and that’s the most important thing."

Tonda Eckert: “I think if you win 5-0 there are some moments to enjoy. Towards the end it was just important for me that we managed to keep a clean sheet, because for us it is also a step to grow, but I think it was a big night for us.

"For the moment [Sheffield Wednesday] are in they’ve been outstanding over the last weeks. It must be very tough to be in the situation they’re in and keep going again, again and again. It’s not an easy situation and I think [Henrik Pedersen] has dealt with it in an outstanding way."

ONES TO WATCH

Charlie McNeill: Having made 33 appearances this season, McNeill has been a regular for the Owls and netted in their derby day defeat last weekend. In a side that's found goals hard to come by, McNeill has looked the most likely to make something happen in the final third.

Kuryu Matsuki: Having scored twice during Saints' midweek victory against QPR, the 22-year-old will be looking to build on his brace against a struggling Sheffield Wednesday side.
