WHAT’S AT STAKE?

Norwich arrive at St Mary’s six points adrift of their hosts following an impressive 2-0 win against Preston North End on Saturday.

That win meant they have secured eight victories in their previous ten league matches and will be looking to build on that against Southampton.

Saints are unbeaten in their last ten league games, winning seven of those, and will be full of confidence having defeated the league leaders Coventry City on Saturday.

These two sides have already met twice this season, once in the Carabao Cup and once in the Sky Bet Championship, resulting in a 3-0 win and a 2-1 defeat, respectively.

TEAM NEWS

Saints: Tonda Eckert has been handed a timely boost, with Leo Scienza and Ross Stewart back on the grass, while Jay Robinson has returned to training and Welington is set to follow later this week.

Mads Roerslev remains sidelined for now, but after a demanding January, Eckert highlighted improving availability as a key positive heading into the next fixture.

Norwich City: Philippe Clement may freshen things up again, even after turning to his bench early in Saturday’s meeting with Preston North End, where four changes were made just past the hour mark.

Kellen Fisher and Sam Field are both in the frame to come back into the side, while Amankwah Forson is edging closer to a first start since December after a trio of cameo appearances following his return from injury.

After featuring twice in a short space of time, Pelle Mattsson could be the one to make way and start among the substitutes.

THE MANAGERS

Tonda Eckert: “I think we’re all happy to be back at St Mary’s now! The boys have dealt with [the away run] outstandingly. The medical staff have been outstanding too. Let’s hope we can continue it now at St Mary’s. The boys are in a good place. Tomorrow is a completely different game to the last two we played. I feel very well prepared.

"If you have the support at home, it’s different. I said this after the last game we played, for the way we play it’s so important to have a good surface. With the support they’ve helped us to start games, very often, very fast. So that will be key tomorrow.”

Philippe Clement: "The better the quality, the less mistakes you can make, and the game will be decided on small margins. It doesn't mean that we need to fear making mistakes, because it's part of football but we need high concentration and good organisation.

"I want to see us play how we can play. We're not going to totally adapt our style of play to towards Southampton, and it's interesting to see again with several players how they cope with this kind of opponent.

ONES TO WATCH

Finn Azaz: The midfielder has been in good form in recent weeks, adding goals and assists while continuing to grow into a key role for Southampton.

A Republic of Ireland international, the 23-year-old will be hoping to keep his run of form going as the Saints push for a successful end to the season.

Ali Ahmed:The forward added to his tally at the weekend, continuing a strong run of form in front of goal during another productive Championship campaign.

Now established as Norwich’s main attacking outlet, the 24-year-old has developed into a consistent threat for the Canaries, combining intelligent movement with clinical finishing to lead the line effectively.
