WHAT’S AT STAKE?
Cyle Larin's headed equaliser in stoppage time at The Hawthorns on Wednesday night made it 11 unbeaten for Saints in all competitions. The Canadian's strike also continued his side's record of scoring in consecutive games in the Sky Bet Championship to ten, one shy of their longest run between November and December of 2025.
But despite these feats, there was some frustration that the point at West Brom presented a missed opportunity to close the gap even further on those play-off spots, with Saints finishing the night in seventh place. Victory on Saturday providing a chance leapfrog Wrexham on goal difference who sit one place above.
Sitting at the top of the pile are Saturday's opponents, who cemented that spot with a 3-0 victory over Preston North End on Wednesday night. Coventry City hold an eight point gap on second place Middlesbrough, and will be looking to only extend that advantage as we enter the tail end of the season.
TEAM NEWS
Coventry City: Top scorer Haji Wright was rested on Wednesday night and is expected to make his return alongside Joel Latibeaudiere (following a ban) and Victor Torp. But Frank Lampard's side will be without Bobby Thomas and Jack Rudoni.
Saints: The status of Leo Scienza is yet unknown, having been replaced in the first half of the West Brom draw with a groin injury. A decision will need to be made on Ross Stewart, who was also substituted during Wednesday night, with Larin coming into the side and scoring.
THE MANAGERS
Frank Lampard: "The good things we do at the CBS mean we win games, so we have to keep doing them. It's been a big strength of ours in terms of that record.
"If there's an edge in this game [after the end of the St Mary's game] that's a good thing. Footballers love playing in good atmospheres. I'm not reflecting on the last game. We have to approach this one in the right way and keep focused."
Tonda Eckert: "It is [an exciting challenge], it's the next challenge for us. We knew this block was a tough one for us, it's not easy travelling, coming back, travelling, coming back. Then maintaining the performance, maintaining the energy at a high level.
"You can sense over the last weeks that the club has just grown more and more together. The supporters push us all the way through to the end."
ONES TO WATCH
Haji Wright: Six goals in five games leading into the game earned the American a well deserved rest against Preston on Wednesday night.
As Coventry look to continue their recent momentum they will be looking for Wright to add to his 16 goals in the Sky Bet Championship already this season.
Ryan Manning: The full back has provided a key attacking outlet for Saints throughout the 2025/26 season, recording his best goalscoring campaign to date with six strikes.
In recent weeks these attacking numbers have increased, registering two goals and an assist in the last five outings.
