Southampton goalkeeper Ollie Wright suffered play-off heartbreak with Worthing to end his loan spell in the sixth tier. This and more in our latest Loan Watch…

The 21-year-old had helped Worthing reach the National League South play-off final, where his side lined up against Braintree Town for a place in the National League.

In a thriller of a game, Braintree took the lead before Worthing responded through top-scorer Ollie Pearce who levelled the tie.

Wright made some comfortable saves between the sticks, but the game then burst into life in 15 second half minutes as both sides traded goals to head into extra-time locked at 3-3.

However, in the 108th-minute, it was Braintree who landed the killer blow to seal promotion with a 4-3 victory thanks to Reggie Lambe’s instinctive diving header.

Wright ended his loan spell in disappointment, but returns after making several key contributions; the play-off final defeat was his only loss with the Rebels after playing in seven victories beforehand.

Elsewhere, outside of England, five more loanees were in action as the European league campaigns approach their final games.

Duje Ćaleta-Car continued to be a mainstay in the Lyon defence as their impressive form continued with a 4-3 win over Lille in Ligue 1.

Lyon have suffered just one defeat in their last nine games, as they have moved up to 7th in the table and within touching distance of European qualification for next season.

In Turkey, Mateusz Lis kept his 21st clean sheet as already-promoted Göztepe enjoyed a comfortable victory in their penultimate game of the season.

Meanwhile, Paul Onuachu played 70-minutes in a defeat for Trabzonspor in the Turkish Süper Lig, the first after three successive wins for the third-place side.

Over in Italy, Charly Alcaraz was a late substitute for Juventus once more, playing the closing stages of a 1-1 draw against Roma at the Stadio Olimpico.

Finally, Lyanco suffered defeat in the Qatar Cup with Al-Gharafa as his side were knocked out by Al-Rayyan with a 2-1 defeat in their penultimate game of the season.
