Loan Watch: Elyounoussi nets for Celtic

Southampton’s Mohamed Elyounoussi played a pivotal role in Celtic’s 1-1 draw at Celtic Park.

Despite Rangers having already wrapped up this year’s title, Celtic appeared the dominant side in this Glasgow derby.

Elyounoussi’s thumping header met Odsonne Edouard’s cross from the left flank to give the home side the advantage in the 23rd minute.

“We had a good game, I think we deserved to win it," Elyounoussi reflected. "That said, there is a lot of positivity we can take from the game that we can take onwards. We must keep positives. Take the positives from the game and keep going.”

Elyounoussi also received a call up to his national side Norway this week. They are due to face Turkey in the World Cup Qualifiers on Saturday 27 March.

Into League One now, where Saturday’s clash between Gillingham and Doncaster Rovers saw two Saints men come face-to-face on opposing sides.

The action ramped up rapidly at Priestfield Stadium with all four goals being scored withing the first twenty-five minutes of play.

For Doncaster Rovers, Josh Sims featured and played a vital role as he set up James Coppinger to draw his side level.

While Gillingham only managed a point against Doncaster Rovers they did storm to a 3-0 victory on the road at Lincoln. Tom O'Conor came off the bench in both of these fixtures to make an impact.

It's incredibly tight in League One this season with just six points separating fifth and fourteenth place. Doncaster Rovers sit fifth on fifty-seven points, while Gillingham remain just three points behind in eighth.

Elsewhere in League One, Jake Vokins featured in Sunderland’s midweek clash with Accrington Stanley where the Black Cats extended their run to 10 games unbeaten in all competitions.

Sunderland's impressive run sees them reach third in the table and just two points adrift of an automatic promotion spot.

Jake Hesketh did feature in Crawley Town's fixture with Walsall, where they claimed a last-gasp equaliser in the 97th minute. However, Hesketh was forced to withdraw after just 21 minutes with an injury.

It was a disappointing result for struggling Fulham in the Premier League, as they fell to a 2-1 defeat at the hands of Leeds United on Friday night.

Southampton’s Lemina did get some good game time in though as he played the full 90 at Craven Cottage.

Lemina also received his call up to the Gabon national team for the Africa Cup of Nations Qualifiers.
