The latest graduating class of Saints by your Side were joined by Saints Foundation Ambassador James Beattie as they discussed their journeys with the programme ahead of Mental Health Awareness Week.

Saints by your Side aims to give local men the tools they need to better manage their mental health through support sessions hosted at St Mary’s Stadium. Last week, one of our groups had their final session with the team.

As they reflected on their journey, where they started, and the things they've learned; A familiar face for Saints fans joined them. Despite flexing knowledge on his goal scoring exploits, team Beattie would lose the ice breaker quiz by just the one point, before James presented the whole group with their graduation certificates and gifts.

With Saints Foundation staff T and Jack, our latest Saints by your Side graduates would round off the session by setting goals moving forward, as well as hearing about the options to remain connected with the people they’ve met on the programme.

With May 13th marking the start of Mental Health Awareness Week, a student from one of our PL Inspires school shared his journey with Saints Foundation during a recent trip to Wembley Stadium.

A group of students from Compass School won the chance to represent Saints Foundation at a national event under the iconic arch, and Evan would share how he went from having a difficult time at mainstream school before moving to Compass, to presenting at Wembley.

Evan would get involved with Saints Foundation’s PL Inspires group at Compass School, leading to his involvement in the planning of a mental health campaign which would win the Compass team a trip to Wembley.

You can read more about Evan’s story on the Premier League website here.
