Harwood-Bellis: We're going to keep growing
Southampton made it six games unbeaten with a win over Birmingham City as Taylor Harwood-Bellis scored his first goal for the club, as the centre-back reflected on the positive atmosphere building in the camp.
Harwood-Bellis headed his side into the lead in the ninth minute to set Saints on their way to a 3-1 victory over Wayne Rooney's Blues at St Mary's Stadium.
Charly Alcaraz doubled the lead before half time and Adam Armstrong sealed the points late on after the visitors had pulled a goal back in the second half.
Delighted to open his account for the club, Saints' on-loan defender declared that the timing of the game's goals were key to the result.
"Getting the goal early and then finishing off with the three points, yeah, everyone's happy.
"It always helps going ahead early, it kind of relaxes the whole place knowing you're 1-0 up but our mentality isn't to relax it's to keep pushing and keep going."
"Obviously they made it difficult for us going into the second half but I thought we adapted really well, saw it out, conceded the goal which we're not happy about but I thought the lads had a really god mentality to finish the game off."
With Saints navigating their way through October without tasting defeat, Harwood-Bellis believes the recent form is just the start of more to come for his side.
"There's real potential, I think we're going to keep growing, you've not seen the best of us yet.
"We're applying ourselves in training, the standard is really good, every player could come in and it doesn't make a difference as the culture of the club here is second to none."
The 21-year-old added that he is already feeling at home in his new South Coast surroundings, following his deadline day arrival.
"Yeah, from the first week. That's been down to the players being so welcoming, the staff as well and obviously the fans.
"There's just a really good feeling around the whole club, I knew it as soon as I came in, I felt it and I've not been disappointed."
