Head Coach Tonda Eckert recognised his side’s potency from set-plays as three goals secured three points at Sheffield Wednesday on Saturday afternoon.

Moving eight games unbeaten in the league and remaining in seventh hot on the heels of the play-offs, goals from James Bree, Ryan Manning and Taylor Harwood-Bellis – all from set-plays – secured the latest three points.

Reflecting on a wholly positive afternoon, Eckert said: “It's not an easy place to come. They've played many tight games lately, so we're very happy to call it three points.

“In the Championship, it's not that you just go anywhere and you turn up to win a game. It's not that easy, so we knew that we need to push and I think we did.

“I think that we should have scored from open play as well today. I think that we created more than enough to score, not just from dead balls, but from open play.

“But in the end it doesn't matter, as long as we put the balls in the back of the net, it's important that we manage to keep our run going, three points back home and then we keep going.

“It's good that sometimes if we don't manage to put one away in open play, that we are then dangerous on set pieces, so very happy with today.”

Backed by over three thousand Saints fans at Hillsborough, Eckert was also thankful for their support on the road.

“You see that the celebrations always lasted a bit longer when you can do that in front of your fans. I think the ref was not so happy that it went on for a little bit longer, but no, we took six hours yesterday to come up here. I hope that some of the supporters took a little bit less time today, but the support was amazing.”
