Brilliant Barratt Homes support for Saints Foundation
Barratt and David Wilson Homes staff visited our SaintsAbility sessions to see the impact of their generous support first-hand.
Partner construction companies Barratt Homes and David Wilson Homes have been huge supporters of Saints Foundation for some time now, with charity dinners, corporate sponsorship and fundraising challenges generating a huge amount of money for us as their chosen charity year-on-year.
Most recently, the Hampshire housebuilders sponsored our Play at St Mary’s Tournament, donating £5,000 in support of our work and seeing the event expanded to include a Women’s tournament for the first time. They also offered to cover the cost of any Women’s team that wanted to join but couldn’t afford their entry fee, as part of their commitment to improving equality and diversity in football and beyond.
With this just a small portion of the huge funds that Barratt and David Wilson Homes have generated for Saints Foundation, staff from the housebuilders got to see the impact of their hard work first hand by visiting one of our open access disabled football sessions, SaintsAbility, back in June.
After a warm-up led by volunteer coach Louis, which included his ongoing sign language lessons for the group, the staff got involved in football cricket and an 11-a-side game alongside the SaintsAbility players, with play catered to support their wide variety of disabilities and special educational needs.
They have also donated £500 to help participants on our Switching Play programme access the transport they need to get to sessions.
We’d like to say a huge thank to Barratt and David Wilson Homes for their ongoing support – quite simply, without the support of organisations like them, we wouldn’t be able to make such a life-changing difference in people’s lives.
